Summer time Hair!!! AAHHHHHH

I don't know about you but every summer I try numerous products to keep my children's hair healthy. My children LOVE the pool and I do not know how to braid my daughter's hair enough to fight through all that thickness to put on a hair cap. She just has soooo much I can not fathom that tasks. So yes, her hair tends to get extremely dry and brittle during the summers due to the chlorine. This summer I came across Swimmers Conditioner. I purchased it at Sally's and it was less than $6! We like that price!!! I spray this on her hair before and after the pool and I must say that I have noticed a difference. Her hair stays soft and I am not washing it as much so that it does not dry out. I also do a hot oil treatment once a month. If I find her hair to get too dry I will do it twice a month. I put the bottle in a pot on the stove and after washing her hair I apply the hot oil and put a shower cap on her for 20 minutes. Her hair is AMAZING after!!! So far this summer we have had great summer swimmers hair with no breakage or dry ends!

Caramel Curlz & Swirls: Small Business Spotlight: Cookies & Cream Couture,...

Caramel Curlz & Swirls: Small Business Spotlight: Cookies & Cream Couture,...: Hello Readers and welcome to our latest Small Business Spotlight!!   Today's Feature is:  Let me introduce all of you to Y...

My Children are Afro Latinos!

My Children are Afro-Latinos and as a mother it is my desire to teach them the beauty of their history. While we don’t speak Spanish fluently in our home, I am working at speaking more to them in Spanish and requesting that my family members do the same. However, cultural pride goes beyond speaking the language but being culturally educated. I aspire to construct a healthy environment so that they can face the chaos and stereotypes head on with no confusion of who they are and where they come from. Their biracial background, coiled tight curls, or the color of their skin is not a determining factor of their character. I speak life into them daily reminding them they’re made with a purpose, that their skin tone and tight curls are amazingly beautiful, that their smile changes people, and that who they are on the inside needs to shine on the outside. Their outward appearance is the extra gifts God gave them to decorate who he made them to be. I look them directly in the eyes giving them these positive affirmations as it will build their coat of confidence assuring that they will rise to any challenge. That being “biracial” is beautiful. There is nothing wrong with curves, full lips, thick thighs, and afro puffs! They come from two worlds that are full of cultural customs. Our history, music, and art have been world changers. You are African American and Puerto Rican and do not need to explain yourself to no one. They are not losing one culture over the other but embracing the beauty of being “BICULTURAL!”

My desire for them is embrace their cultures and be proud of who they are and where they come from. Their caramel colored skin, tight curls, curves, and full lips define them as individuals. As beautiful unique beings who were created to perfection by God himself. They are my little Cookies & Cream!

Hair GODS! MOROCCAN OIL

The BEST stuff ever invented!!! Let me just say that I am a little obsessed with my daughters curls. This stuff right here keeps her curls so so so hydrated and beautiful. It is pricey (for me), so I do use it sparingly. I only use it after I wash her hair which is once a week. I put the oil on first then the mask and comb it out. The next day her curls are to die for. If she is going to have a photo shoot the next day then I will also use this product. Check at your local salons or you can always buy them online.

Isabella's Hair and How She Learned to Love it.... Children's book

Isabella's Hair and How She Learned to Love It is a story about Isabella, a young girl who lives in Carolina, Puerto Rico. As an Afro-Boricua child, Isabella struggles with understanding the beauty of her natural hair and the color brown. Her grandmother serves as an inspiration towards self acceptance and love.

A United World...Stop Racism

I came across this painting and LOVED it! Unfortunately there are still people who choose to see people for their color alone.

Hair Products!!! Shea Moisture

I have had to take a picture of the hair products that I use on my children's hair because so many times I am stopped and asked what it is that I use because her curls are so nice. It has taken a lot of trial and error but here I will feature my favorites!

Shea Moisture for curly hair is AMAZING!!! I absolutely love their products. For a while I would use the curl enhancing smoothie and it is very hydrating. Her hair got used to it and I had to change it up. I started using the hair milk mixed with an argon oil. Her curls were rich and beautiful. I don't always use the Hold & Shine Moisture Mist, but it does leave a nice shine. Everyone's curls are different. I suggest buying their trial box which comes with smaller bottles for you to test. It is only $19.99 I bought my trial box at Wal-greens. Below is the trial size.

What is Cookies & Cream Couture

Who are we? Cookies & Cream Couture, Inc. is an online boutique for children! I came up with this idea due to getting frustrated every time I went shopping for my children. I felt like I couldn't find the styles I wanted at prices I could afford. I personally have so much fun dressing them up and taking pictures. At 4 and 2 years old, I have created little fashion monsters...and I LOVE IT!!! It took me a while to come up with a name. Being that this boutique was inspired by my two amazing biracial beauties, what better name than Cookies & Cream Couture!

About Us!   I am a Puerto Rican mother married to my best friend who is African American and together we have two beautiful children; Zion and J'adore. My husband, Ronnell, is a 4th grade teacher and I am currently in school for education as well. Growing up I never dealt with racial discrimination on any level. I couldn't imagine ever judging someone for who they were culturally, what their hair looked like, or the color of their skin. When my daughter was born she was indescribably beautiful. She grew into an even more amazing little girl with a head full of curls. I mean she has enough hair for three people and most of us would die for a head of hair like hers! She began noticing that mommy was different. My hair was straighter, my skin was slightly lighter, and she felt different. She wanted to look like mommy and frequently asked why I was white and she was not. Then 22 months later my son was born. He came out with the curly hair but even lighter than I was. Of course this caused even more questions and it broke my heart. Children at the playground talked about her hair, her little friends were confused on why hers was so curly and theirs was strait and this fed into her feeling of not being beautiful. I spoke to her about her inner beauty and that her exterior was just how God decorated her outside. I would point out different aspects of her personality that were beautiful along with different physical features and this began to help. She now looks at herself in the mirror and tells me, "mommy I am so beautiful now." With this, I came up with an idea to design shirts that represented the beauty of being biracial! They are fun shirts that celebrate them and their unique curly locks. I am so excited about this new venture and I invite you along my journey

What Will This Blog Feature? I want to inspire you and your children to see themselves as beautiful creations! I will give product reviews on hair and skin products that I have used and liked with my children or products that I randomly come across. I will feature literature such as books that teach us how to address the issues that our children are faced with which we never faced. You will see new T-Shirt styles, and products featured before they make it to the store and can pre-order.
